    Why it lasts

    Made to last

    Materials and care

    Solid, not plated

Plating is a microns-thin skin of gold over cheap metal. It wears through at the clasp and the inside of a ring first, and then the piece turns. Solid 14k has no skin to wear through, and gold filled carries a layer roughly a hundred times thicker than plating.

    Stones that take a life

Sapphire, tourmaline and diamond are hard enough to be worn every day without scratching dull. Freshwater pearl is the one exception in the collection, and every piece that uses it says so.

    In the water

Salt water, chlorine and soap do nothing to solid gold. Anything marked water safe can be swum in, showered in and forgotten about. That is the entire point.

    Custom designs and lengths

Any piece can be made to a length that is not listed, and Orel takes commissions for pieces that do not exist yet.

    The maker

    Designed and made by Orel

Every piece is drawn, made and finished by hand in small runs. That is why the collections are small and why the metal is solid: it is easier to make something thin and plated, and it does not last.

Custom lengths and custom designs are part of the work, not an add-on. If you want a piece in a size that is not listed, ask.
